Chapter 5: Evaluation Strategies
Suggested Time Frame: 15 minutes
The goal of this chapter is to examine the evaluation process (to identify gaps and allow for goal setting by preceptee’s) to enhance leadership and professionalism and the preceptor’s ability to assess the acquisition of the knowledge, skills and attitudes in the clinical setting.
At the completion of this chapter, the participant will:
1. Describe the purpose of providing feedback and evaluation.
2. List benefits and barriers to providing effective and constructive feedback.
3. Identify techniques to assist with goal setting to close gaps in knowledge, skills and attitudes.
